“I couldn’t have waited that long.” – A Hip Replacement Story
We love hearing from our patients. We received this note from Ruth, a 69 year old patient, just 3 1/2 months post-op from her hip replacement surgery.
Dr. Kassman/Scott;
I just wanted to let you know that I am doing very well. I have returned to teaching my Jazzercise classes and it has been really good. The last week of August, I participated in a relay sprint triathlon in Priest Lake, Idaho; I did the swimming part as you can see below, my son-in-law did the bike ride, and my daughter did the run. We each got a medal for our parts. You can barely see the scar on my left hip as I came out of the water. I felt great. My biggest fear, with over 600 other swimmers, was that I could possibly get kicked by other swimmers. Since it was a chip timed triathlon I delayed my start until the main group of swimmers had left the start line and then I stayed to the left side of my group Perhaps next year I will do the full triathlon, although this was so much fun perhaps I will just stick to the relay.
I just wanted you both to know how things are going. By the way, I received a phone call the first week of September from the Alberta Hip and Knee Clinic telling me they had a surgery date for me; October 16. I think you both know I couldn’t have waited that long. Besides, I am so happy with my Phoenix experience with you, Dr. Kassman, and your team and with you, Scott, hat I know I couldn’t possibly have had as good an outcome here in Calgary.
I hope all is well with both of you and your families.
Sincerely,
Ruth W.
