Founded in 1994, OrthoArizona has become the premier orthopedic group across the valley.

Since that time, we have grown to have over two dozen locations and over 70 orthopedic specialists.

Our multi-specialty orthopedic clinics have additional convenient services such as Physical & Hand Therapy, Athletic Performance, X-ray and MRI, a Walk In Clinic for Urgent Orthopedic Conditions and more!

Board Officers

Caleb Behrend, MD
President

Dr. Behrend began his term on January 1, 2023 after being elected in late 2022. He has been with OrthoArizona since 2017 and is a practicing orthopedic spine surgeon.

Dr. Behrend is a board-certified spine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgery, cervical spinal surgery, scoliosis and spinal deformity and musculoskeletal medicine. His practice is focused on alleviating pain and reducing disability from spinal diseases using the least invasive effective approach to treatment. He completed medical training at UCLA and residency at The University of Rochester in New York. Fellowship training was in complex spine surgery and spinal trauma at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia.

Kenneth J. Schmidt, MD
Senior Vice President of Operations

Dr. Kenneth J. Schmidt became OrthoArizona’s Senior Vice President of Operations in January 2024.

Dr. Schmidt is a board-certified total joint specialist. He is committed to thoroughly exploring both non-operative and surgical solutions for patients based on addressing their specific needs and goals. Dr. Schmidt received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. He further received fellowship training in lower extremity reconstruction at the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA. Dr. Schmidt maintains active memberships with the American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arizona Medical Association, Arizona Orthopaedic Society, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

James F. Davidson, MD
Vice President of Medical Affairs

Dr. Davidson is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a Subspecialty Certification in Sports Medicine. His special interests include disorders of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Davidson enjoys the innovation and technology that is central to orthopedics and relishes the opportunity to help patients get better and return to their sport, job, and lifestyle. He is a spring training physician for the Chicago White Sox as well as the team orthopedist for numerous local schools. He received his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York and he later completed his orthopedic residency and fellowship in sports medicine with the Maricopa Medical Center Department of Surgery in Phoenix. Dr. Davidson is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America as well as the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has published scientific papers and spoken nationally on topics ranging from anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction to arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Dr. Davidson has been recognized by PHOENIX Magazine as a “Top Doc” in both Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
