Dr. David Ott Retiring from Surgery At The End of 2022
From Dr. David Ott: After 40 years, I am going to cease doing surgery at the end of 2022. I will complete the care of existing patients and assist in transferring to other physicians in 2023. At the Arcadia location, there will be four of my partners available to assume care. This includes Dr. Berghoff, Dr. Domer, Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Wilmink. Additionally, some of these physicians go to other OrthoArizona locations. Within OrthoArizona, there nearly 70 physicians available across the valley as well. All records and XRAYs will be made available to my patients. It has been my sincere honor and pleasure to assist in your care over these decades and assure you there will be excellent care available through OrthoArizona in the future. Thank you for the confidence you have placed in me.
A statement from OrthoArizona: Dr. David Ott has been practicing orthopedic surgery for 40 years and was a founding member of OrthoArizona back in 1994. He has been a part of OrthoArizona’s Board of Officers and has been our Vice President of Operations for most of that time. Dr. Ott has been an integral part of our organization, creating and fortifying the foundation that we continue to build upon and helped make us the premier orthopedic practice in Arizona. We owe many thanks and praises to Dr. Ott for all the work he has done for the organization, the Arizona community, and especially his patients.

Dr Ott, Thank you for your absolutely amazing skills in replacing my R hip and repairing my R femur in Nov 2017. My recovery was rapid and complete. Best of all, my golf game, the benchmark by which recovery is measured, has improved significantly. All the best to you & your family. David Goldberg July 19, 2023
Dr. Ott, your are amazing. I could not believe it when you told me you were retiring. We are so grateful for you. Jack enjoyed two of your knee replacements for many years before his passing. We will be forever grateful for your friendship. May God be with you now and forever in your retirement. I hope you are able to enjoy it and have some good times with your family. Our family to your family Best wishes for your future. (Janele Clegg)
I’m almost three years out of surgery and my hip is better than it was before. I’m sorry that you’re retired. My experience was fantastic. Thank you for everything, Dr. Ott. — Sari Yanishefky (hairdresser at large)
Thank you thank you thank you! After consults with other doctors who just didn’t “get it” I finally felt seen, heard and understood from the first meeting I had with you. I’m coming up on my 1 year surgiversary on my RATHR this month and hope I’ll get to see you for my last follow up before you foray into your new normal. I’m happily back to all my pre-op activities including teaching INSANITY and hiking. Best of luck with retirement and thank you for being such an amazing surgeon and person!

Dear Dr. Ott – we meant to do this in December and somehow here it is almost February. We want to tell you how happy that you were our surgeon – Tom for his knees and myself for my hips. The profession will be losing an awesome surgeon! We hope your retirement brings you fun, laughter, and good times! You are greatly appreciated! Fondly, Tom and Elaine Day
Dr. Ott,

Dr. Ott,
You have made such a huge impact in my life! When I first had issues with my right hip and started interviewing doctors, you stood out from all of them-the time you take with each patient, your care to have the latest technology and procedures, and your warmth to help us feel safe and put our trust in you. Now after a couple of surgeries on my right hip, left hip replacement, left knee replacement….I can’t imagine going through this journey with anyone else. So glad I got to see you the other day to wish you well! I will definitely miss you! Thank you so much, and all the best in your well deserved retirement!
Susan Echard

I just want to Thank You for replacing both my knees. I would not have been able to travel and enjoy my retirement as much as I am now. I hope your retirement is everything you hoped it would be. Enjoy!!
Thank you Dr Ott for providing our entire family with wonderful orthopedic care throughout all these years… hope retirement is everything you want it to be and MORE… we will miss you… the BOWERS gang (Ingrid, Dan, Natalie, Grant) & a special thank you for caring for my 89 year old mother & helping her get a new hip. 🥰
Congratulations on your retirement. I’m very happy for you but also sad for those future patients who will not be able to be blessed by your expertise and wisdom.
I’m very thankful for you (and for Chris) for both of my perfect hip replacements.
Hoping you enjoy your retirement every single day. L Easton
Thank you, Dr Ott, for the excellent work you and Chris Rubio did on my hips! I’m so happy to have found you for the biggest surgery I’ve had.
I’m doing great and have recovered faster and better than my friends who have had their hips done. I’m sure this is due to your great skill and the care you take to give each patient the very best you can.
You have more than earned a wonderful retirement! I wish happiness to you and your family!
Thank you,
Mark Kirlin
I want to extend my appreciation for the quality of care I have received from you over the years. You literally saved my life when my first hip replacement went horribly wrong through no fault of yours. I’m so indebted to you, your an incredible doctor and remarkable human being. Thank you.
Hello,
You were referred to me by a patient of yours. I am not interested in surgery. I would like a good diagnosis of some ongoing hip pain.
Are you available for a consultation?
Thank you,

Dr Ott. Thank you for helping my daughter and myself in the 90’s with various nonsense that went on in our lives. I knew we were always in GREAT hands. I have been an RN at St. Joseph’s and then their out patient surgery for 1,000 years (1979). You were my go to and I always felt safe and cared for. Have the most WONDERFUL & BLESSED retirement!! Bernadette ( Bunny) Smith RN
Hey Dr Ott!!! Congratulations on your retirement!! The Orthopaedic world is losing probably the best surgeon and man ever. So very grateful for all you have done for me to improve my quality of life. I will always remember you as the “guy who kept me walkin’ like everybody else” I remember when I got ready to move back to Michigan and I had that last visit with you and you said “Carole, your hips will outlast my professional career” and guess what? You win! They are still working perfectly and they are old enough to drink!! . I still say a quick Thank you to you every day when I get up in the morning. It is rare to find a relationship with a physician who simply “gets” you and can work with that. My best to you and all your family. and just so you know, there are some great golf courses up here in the UP and northwoods of WI. and I make a mean Walleye fish fry..LOL Thank you again. Carole Roubal (the goofy patient that made your that cross stitched limerick LOL)
Dr Ott, congratulations on your retirement. I had the pleasure of seeing you a few times & if memory serves me right you were always professional & very pleasant. Thank you! God bless you. Enjoy your retirement.
Dave,
You became a good friend through our mutual great friend, Dr. Tim Louis. I fondly remember the several trips to Pine Valley Golf Club that we made with Tim with him providing private air transportation. You have also provided outstanding medical care for me, particularly for my partial knee replacement. You also did a great service for Margi in fixing her foot. You have a great deal to be very proud of in your professional life and in your personal life. I look forward to more golf games in the future. Phil Edlund
Congratulations Dr Ott – so deserved. I’ve enjoyed working with you over the years with my WC patients and all the challenges that go with that institution and population.
I’m happy to know you’ll still be around to some capacity – we need great docs like you!
You’ve always remained professional but more importantly always a great human!
You’ll be missed

So wonderful that you can slow down during this stage of life..not doing surgery. I know that you won’t be slowing down with you other interests! It was wonderful working with you on and off all these years! Have a fantastic next adventure!

Congratulations, Dr. Ott. Well deserved.
You have always been a consummate professional with excellent clinical skill and wonderful personal communication.
Enjoy your retirement!! You will be missed. Jo Gambosi
Dr. Ott,
Without your conservative views, I would have submitted to several surgeries. All works pretty well and I am grateful for your expertise and willingness to explain all options. You deserve a great retirement. That being the rational statement, the void in my soul with your absence is louder. Thank you is inadequate, but words don’t come so I will wish you Happy Trails till we meet again.
Sincerely,
Gloria Dayley
Thank you Dr. Ott for all of the great care that you have given me over the past 27 years. I have had the honor and privilege to work with you in caring for your hospitalized patients as well as being your patient. Your talent, wisdom and high standards of care will be greatly missed!
I wish you all the best in your next journey!!
Lane Ramirez
Enjoy your retirement, Dr. Ott!
