About

About Dr. Ramachandran

Dr. Vimala Ramachandran has built her orthopedic practice in Phoenix by focusing on her interests in treating conditions for the hand, wrist, and elbow. She enjoys treating patients of all age groups, from babies to the elderly. She specializes in fracture care, tendon and nerve injuries, and reconstructive surgery for arthritic conditions. She utilizes minimally invasive techniques, such as wrist arthroscopy and endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery, to help her patients regain function as quickly as possible.

Dr. Ramachandran’s goal is to care for all her patients with compassion, dignity, and understanding. She emphasizes a team approach, where the doctor and the patient work together as equal partners to promote health and quality of life. Dr. Ramachandran is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University. She then went on to study medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in her home state of Ohio. Following her orthopedic residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, she elected to pursue an extra year of training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Minnesota.

During her year of fellowship in Minnesota, Dr. Ramachandran learned techniques to maximize hand function for conditions such as traumatic injuries, arthritis, and even congenital deformities.

In her spare time, Dr. Ramachandran takes pleasure in spending time with her family. She enjoys outdoor activities, such as long-distance running, road and mountain biking, and camping. An avid animal lover, she owns three dogs and often volunteers at the local humane society.
