Cynthia Kooima, M.D.

Dr. Cynthia Kooima is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder arthroscopy and replacement. She is passionate about caring for competitive athletes as well as patients looking to resume a healthy, active lifestyle. Dr. Kooima is currently the team physician for Gilbert High School and previously for the Arizona Derby Dames. She received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Kooima completed her orthopedic residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and trained under team physicians for the Detroit Lions and Detroit Red Wings. During her sports medicine fellowship at the Institute for Bone & Joint Disorders in Phoenix, Dr. Kooima focused on operative and nonoperative treatment for a variety of athletic injuries. She is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Western Orthopedic Association.
