Matthew Crooks, M.D.

Director, Pinnacle Pain at OrthoArizona

Dr. Matthew Crooks is a double-board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional pain specialist and serves as the director of Pinnacle Pain at OrthoArizona. He is currently a clinical faculty member at Mayo Clinic Arizona, department of anesthesiology, division of pain medicine.

Dr. Crooks has had the distinct honor of training with leading experts in pain medicine at two of the nation’s top hospitals, with extensive training in acute and chronic pain management. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and while there, he had the honor of being selected as chief resident of the department of anesthesiology and critical care medicine from 2008 to 2009.

Delivering the highest quality of patient care has been the primary focus of Dr. Crooks throughout his career in medicine. He believes that the best attribute a doctor can have is the ability to listen to their patient and to understand the importance of the doctor-patient relationship. This relationship is essential in managing chronic pain, restoring function, and getting back to life.

Dr. Crooks has been practicing interventional pain medicine in Arizona since 2010 and has been voted a Top Doc in pain management by Phoenix doctors in PHOENIX magazine. His clinical interests include spinal injections, radiofrequency ablation, and neuromodulation by spinal cord stimulators. He is well-versed in interventional and multimodal pain management and is passionate about improving the lives of his patients by limiting the impact of chronic pain.

He is a member in good standing of the Arizona Medical Association, North American Spine Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.

In his free time, Dr. Crooks enjoys basketball, golf, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
