About

About Dr. Dhillon

Dr. Ekamjeet Dhillon is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive techniques to treat a wide variety of spinal disorders, including cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral degenerative disorders, disc herniation, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, radiculopathy, sciatica, spinal instability, spondylolisthesis, spinal trauma, spinal infections, revision surgery, failed back syndrome, pseudarthrosis (failure of fusion), scoliosis, adult spinal deformity, sacroiliac joint pain, and low-back pain.

Dr. Dhillon is committed to providing both surgical and nonsurgical care for these spinal conditions. He believes that patient education is key to making informed decisions and works hard to ensure that surgery is considered only as a last resort, always aiming for the least invasive approach possible with an individualized plan for their specific pathology, lifestyle, and expectations. Dr. Dhillon values building personal connections with his patients and finds great fulfillment in guiding them through their challenges.

Dr. Dhillon received his medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Dhillon furthered his training with a spine surgery fellowship at Midwest Orthopaedics at RUSH University Medical Center, where he trained under world-renowned spine surgeons, including Dr. Howard An, Dr. Kern Singh, and Dr. Frank Phillips. While at RUSH, Dr. Dhillon received extensive training in innovative minimally invasive surgical techniques, including microscopic, robotic, and endoscopic spine surgery, in addition to traditional open spine surgeries for spinal decompressions and spinal fusions. He also developed a particular interest in motion-sparing surgical techniques, such as cervical disc replacements, and utilizes 3D navigation, including augmented reality technology, when appropriate.

Dr. Dhillon has contributed over 20 peer-reviewed research articles, ranging from topics of spine realignment strategies to preventative measures for minimizing thromboembolisms (blood clots) after spine surgery and more. He has lectured on these topics at various national and international spine conferences, some of which have resulted in awards for their contribution to the field of spine surgery.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Dhillon likes to take advantage of the outdoors and enjoys hiking, soccer, and snowboarding.
