The OrthoArizona Foot and Ankle Institute has created some helpful resources for patients who are having or had surgery with one of OrthoArizona’s foot and ankle surgeons. We have these same documents available in our offices if you wish to have a printed copy. If you have any questions about your surgery or these resources, please contact a member of your clinical care team at OrthoArizona.

When to Discontinue Medications Before Surgery

Several medications need to be stopped or temporarily modified before surgery. The most common reason is an increased chance of bleeding or other complications during and after the surgery. The following medications must be discontinued at the recommended timelines below. For prescription and specialty medications, you must discuss these recommendations with the physician prescribing your medications and discuss questions or concerns with your surgeon well in advance of your scheduled surgery.
