Amy Knighton, M.M.S., P.A.-C.

Supervising Physician

Amy is a physician assistant with Dr. William Stevens and specializes in spine surgery and pain management with an interest in health and wellness.

Amy received her bachelor’s degree in human biology and exercise science at Grand Canyon University and then went on to earn her master’s degree in medical science and physician assistant studies at A.T. Still University. Amy has spent her entire career in spine surgery and pain management and believes that when assessing patients for potential spine surgery, it’s imperative to consider all the factors that may be generating pain. She believes that surgery may not always be the best solution and that often with lifestyle modifications, pain can be improved.

In practice with Dr. Stevens, Amy sees and treats a wide range of patients from teenagers with scoliosis requiring reconstructive surgery to the professional athlete requiring a lumbar discectomy to an elderly patient who needs a spinal decompression and everyone in between. Her goal is to get patients back to living their best life as quickly as possible with or without surgery.

Outside of her work, Amy enjoys reading and exercising through hiking, running, yoga and lifting weights. She spends time with her three athletic kids and husband who keep her very busy as she is involved in the Arcadia Little League. Amy also has two boxers and loves them dearly.

Amy’s Patient Philosophy
“I try to treat my patients as I want my family to be treated. I do my best to evaluate all potential areas that may be contributing to their pain and disability and make suggestions on how to improve their situation. Spine surgery and prescribed medications are often required, but getting our patients to be in their best physical and mental state significantly improves their quality of life and surgical recovery.”
