Ashley DeCastro, O.T.D., O.T.R./L.

Ashley was born and raised in Rhode Island. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in communicative disorders and a certificate in public health from Rhode Island College in 2018. Ashley went on to receive her doctorate degree in occupational therapy from A.T. Still University in 2023.

Ashley had the opportunity to work under the supervision of a certified hand therapist and learn from hand surgeons at OrthoArizona during her fieldwork experience. Ashley completed her doctoral capstone project in a nontraditional setting and incorporated her knowledge of evidence-based techniques, such as body mechanics, ergonomic principles, and mindfulness-based interventions to create a pain reduction program for the perinatal population.

Ashley is proficient in splinting and physical agent modalities (PAMs). She has experience working with musculoskeletal disorders, neurological conditions, fractures, pre-and post-surgery hand rehabilitation, burns, amputations, and ligament/tendon injuries.

Ashley is extremely passionate about supporting mental health and knows it is just as important as physical health. To keep her mind healthy, Ashley enjoys staying active by weight lifting and playing pickleball with friends. Her favorite instrumental activity of daily living (IADL) is baking sweet treats to share (and to self-indulge too!) She values spending quality time with her fiancé and their dog, Rev.

Ashley’s Patient Philosophy
